AC Hotel Spartanburg

This project introduced the AC Hotels brand to South Carolina. Nested in the heart of downtown Spartanburg, it reinvented the skyline of what’s now a rapidly revitalizing city center. The architect masterfully designed the brick hotel tower to blend in with existing buildings along Main Street, where it enlivens the pedestrian experience with a lobby-level bar and an outdoor pool terrace. The property also features Spartanburg’s first rooftop dining and entertainment venue.
Local restaurants, art galleries, specialty shops, and public green spaces are just steps away; several public and private colleges are close by, too. The hotel is easily accessible to I-85 and I-26, the region’s main business arteries.

Notably, this AC Hotel showcases a significant selection of masterworks created by artists associated with the progressive arts enclave of Black Mountain College. These pieces — paintings, works on paper, sculpture, and textiles — are on loan from the nationally acclaimed Johnson Collection.
